Why you keep getting asked for Meta business verification

Meta requires business verification for certain advertising features and spend levels, and until it clears, connecting an account or publishing a campaign can stay blocked — but the path through it is straightforward.

Why this happens

Meta wants proof that a real, legally registered business sits behind the ad account. It asks for verification when you reach certain spend levels or use features that carry extra risk, and it holds the account in a limited state until its review finishes.

Typical messages look like this:

  • "Your business needs to be verified"
  • "Business verification required to continue."

This is a Meta-side review. Nothing in the platform can approve it, skip it, or speed it up — the decision happens entirely inside Meta Business Settings.

Who this affects

Advertisers scaling spend on Meta, anyone using restricted features, and agencies onboarding a client whose Business Manager has never been verified.

Fastest fix

  1. Open Meta Business Settings for the Business Manager that owns the ad account.
  2. Go to Security Centre and make sure to complete the required fields, including Two-Factor Authentication and any other recommended measures.
  3. Make sure to complete the Business Verification. This will require to upload a supporting document — a business registration, incorporation certificate, tax document, or a recent utility bill in the business name.
  4. Submit, then confirm the code Meta sends by phone or email.

Reviews commonly take a couple of business days, though they can run longer during busy periods. You'll be notified in Business Settings when it resolves.

The details you type must exactly match the document you upload. Mismatched legal names and addresses are the single biggest reason submissions get rejected. "Ltd" versus "Limited", a trading name instead of the registered one, or an old address is enough to fail it.

Other causes and fixes

  • Submitted for the wrong Business Manager: If someone manages several, verification may have gone through on one that doesn't own this ad account. Check which Business Manager the ad account sits under and verify that one.
  • The document was unreadable or in an unsupported format: Blurry phone photos, cropped edges, and password-protected files get rejected. Upload a clear, complete, unedited scan.
  • The confirmation code never arrived: Make sure the phone number can receive calls or texts and that the email inbox is monitored. Switch to the other method if one keeps failing.
  • Approved, but the block is still showing: Your browser session may be holding the old state. Log out, log back in, and reconnect the account.
  • There's no business entity at all: A personal ad account can't be verified as a business. Create a Business Manager first, move the ad account into it, then submit verification.
  • Rejected with no clear reason: You can resubmit. Fix the name and address to match the document character for character before you try again.

If nothing works

Meta owns this decision, so as an alternative you can:

  • Create a new ad account. Sometimes ad accounts hold a specific lock to prevent misuse and creating a new one can allow you to start from a clear slate.
  • Contact Meta support with the Business Manager name and ID, and ask about the verification status.

If the verification shows as complete in Meta but the platform still blocks you, contact support through your settings page with that same information.
