Edit a live campaign
You can make changes to an active campaign — budget, targeting, schedule, and creative — without starting from scratch. Some changes take effect immediately; others trigger a new review by the platform.
How to edit a campaign
- Go to the Advertise tab.
- Click on edit by hovering over the campaign you want to modify.
- Open the Campaign Settings to edit Budget or Campaign name, or Ad Set settings to modify targeting or creatives.
- Tap on the Edit button over the area you want to modify and make your changes.
- Click Update Campaign to apply them.
Significant edits can trigger a new review. On Meta, changing the ad creative, headline, destination URL, or audience will send the ad back through review (usually a few hours). During review, the ad will pause temporarily.
What you can edit and the impact
| What you're changing | Impact on delivery |
|---|---|
| Daily budget | Takes effect immediately. Increasing budget by more than 20% on a learning-phase campaign may restart the learning phase on Meta. |
| Campaign end date (on scheduled campaigns) | Takes effect immediately. No review triggered. |
| Audience targeting | May trigger a brief re-review on Meta. Significant audience changes can partially reset the algorithm's learning. |
| Ad creative (image, video, copy) | Triggers a new review. The ad will pause until the new creative is approved. |
| Destination URL | Triggers a new review on Meta. May also affect Google Quality Score. |
| Campaign objective | Cannot be changed on a live campaign. You must create a new campaign with the correct objective. |
Keep budget changes gradual. Increasing a Meta budget by more than 20% at once can push the campaign back into the learning phase. If you need to scale up significantly, do it in 10–20% increments over a few days.
