Clone an ad with Ad Clone
Ad Clone takes an existing ad — one you found from another brand, or an image or video of your own — and rebuilds it in your brand's look, with your product or service in it. Use it when you've seen an ad layout that works and want your own version of it instead of starting from a blank prompt. Ad Clone is currently marked Beta.
Who this is for
Anyone who wants proven ad structure without designing from scratch. It's especially useful for agencies rolling out a format that already performs across several clients. If you don't see Ad Clone on the Create tab, your administrator may not have it enabled.
Before you begin
- Set up your brand first. Ad Clone reads your brand's colors, logo, voice, and product or service list. The more complete your brand context, the closer the result lands. A thin brand setup produces generic output.
- Have your reference in mind: either a brand whose ads you want to search, or an image or video file to upload.
- Ad Clone works on one creative at a time.
Steps
- Open the Create tab and select Ad Clone. A three-step window opens.
- Step 1 — choose your reference. Pick one of the two tabs:
- Discover Ads searches live ads from other brands. See: Find reference ads to clone.
- Upload Ad uses your own file. Drag an image or video onto the panel, or choose Upload Image or Upload Video to pick one from your media.
- If you upload an image, you'll be asked to choose how to crop it. Select an aspect ratio — 1:1, 1.91:1, or 9:16 — and choose Save Changes.
- Check the thumbnail shown in the window. Use Change media to swap it or Remove media to clear it. When the footer reads Image selected, choose Next.
- Step 2 — choose what you're advertising. Select the product or service this ad is for from the dropdown. These come from your brand setup, so if the list is wrong or empty, fix it in Brands first. You can search the list by name.
- Choose Generate. The window shows Generating your image… while it works.
- Step 3 — refine. Review the result. To adjust it, type an instruction into Describe any changes — for example, "Remove background" or "Change all red colors to green" — and choose Generate again. The field takes up to 200 characters.
- When you're happy with it, choose Save to Library.
Expected result
A new creative appears in your Library, using the reference ad's structure and layout but carrying your brand's colors, logo, and the product or service you selected. From there you can send it into a campaign with Launch Ads or into a post with Schedule Post.
Common issues
- The result doesn't look like your brand: This is almost always incomplete brand setup. Go to Brands, confirm your logo, colors, and voice are populated, then run Ad Clone again.
- The wrong product is being advertised: Step 2 controls this. If your product or service list is missing entries, add them in Brands — they can be scanned from your website, imported from a CSV, or added manually.
- The text in the image is wrong or in the wrong language: Use Describe any changes to correct it, and check your brand's language setting.
- You lost the result: Nothing is kept until you choose Save to Library. Closing the window before saving discards the generated creative.
- Don't copy a competitor's brand assets. Use a reference ad for layout, structure, and pacing — not for its logo, trademarks, or the exact wording of its claims. The result should be unmistakably yours.
